Our History

The Duplikates were born in 2001 when Kate Bryan and Kate Ciari met through a singing group which Kate Bryan organized. They immediately recognized a shared love of music, especially harmony-intensive vocals, and had a mutual admiration for each other's talents.

They began working up some songs with Butch playing guitar and bass. Butch later invited Chuck to join the group, and the Duplikates (two kates - get it?) were born.

For several years they played various venues in the Gallatin Valley, gathering a loyal following of fans for their unique style. When, Butch had to drop out of the band the Duplikates enlisted a variety of Bozeman's best bass players to fill his shoes.

In the fall of 2008, Chuck and the Kates joined forces with Barrie and Carolyn to play a benefit gig for cancer survivors. Barrie and Carolyn's strong vocals, musical versitility and off-beat humor proved a perfect fit for the Duplikates. They all had so much fun they decided to join forces permanantly, forming the band's current lineup.
